Taïga Motors: First delivery of an electric watercraft in California

Taïga Motors, which has experienced serious liquidity problems recently, announced today that they have made the first delivery of electric personal watercraft, Orca Carbon, in the state of California.

Let’s recall that Investissement Québec and Northern Private Capital came to the rescue of Taïga, which had only $8.3 million in liquidity at the end of last February. They injected $40.2 million into the Quebec-based company, which struggled to survive with only 104 electric vehicles, including personal watercraft and snowmobiles, delivered in 2022.

The delivery took place at the new Taïga service provider, H&H Marine, in San Diego. However, the quantity of personal watercraft delivered was not mentioned. Taïga now has a network of 19 FSTs (Taïga service providers) located in 25 locations throughout North America

As a new Taïga service provider, H&H Marine will assist customers in taking delivery of their new Orca Carbon personal watercraft, the world’s first mass-produced electric personal watercraft, and will provide after-sales service.

Here’s what Slade Fester, who reserved an Orca Carbon from California, had to say:

“As an early adopter of new technology, I already understood the benefits of going electric: the performance, the torque; now I’m looking forward to having this same feeling on an Orca”

”On the water, the sound and smell of an ICE personal watercraft can be amplified, so I can’t wait to experience the clean and quiet motor of my new Orca”.

Let’s mention that the Orca Carbon personal watercraft, which features a carbon fiber hull, boasts a power of 120kW and can reach a speed of 100 km/h. Its maximum range is 45km, and most updates can be installed remotely Over-The-Air (OTA updates).

Now, we can only hope that Taïga will manage to accelerate the production pace of its electric personal watercraft this summer to generate positive cash flows as quickly as possible.
