According to several media reports, the electric car manufacturer Tesla has started construction on its wildest charging station yet.
Located in the city of Hollywood, at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, it would feature approximately 30 charging stalls, a 1950s-inspired diner-style restaurant, and an open-air cinema equipped with two 45-foot tall LED screens.
When completed, the restaurant will span two floors and have enough space to accommodate 218 seats. The second floor will be primarily for outdoor seating (113), with another 12 seats inside the building in a snack bar. The second floor will also house a 77-seat cinema seating area.
These 77 seats will provide an elevated perspective, offering rooftop views of two large 45-foot-tall LED cinema screens. These screens will show short film clips from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., while the restaurant itself will be open 24 hours a day.
This project was first mentioned in 2017 by Elon Musk. Knowing that its customers spend around 20 to 30 minutes at the charging stations and want to have something to do during this time, this is where the idea of an outdoor cinema showing short film clips was born.
